
Statutory & Mandatory Training Policy

1. Introduction
Carextra Staffing is committed to ensuring that all healthcare professionals working with us are trained to the highest standards in accordance with UK statutory and mandatory training requirements. This policy sets out our approach to statutory and mandatory training to ensure compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations, NHS Employers’ Standards, and relevant UK employment laws.
2. Purpose of the Policy
The purpose of this policy is to:

Ensure all healthcare workers are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competencies to provide safe and effective care.

Comply with legal and regulatory requirements set by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Care Quality Commission (CQC), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other relevant bodies.

Reduce workplace risks and enhance patient safety.

Maintain compliance with NHS and private healthcare provider standards.
3. Scope
This policy applies to all individuals working with Carextra Staffing, including:

Registered Nurses (RGNs, RMNs, RNLDs)

Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) & Support Workers
-
Allied Health Professionals (AHPs)

Domiciliary and Community Care Staff
-
Office and Administrative Personnel involved in healthcare operations
4. Statutory & Mandatory Training Requirements
All healthcare professionals must complete the following training before commencing work and ensure certifications remain up to date throughout their employment.

Infection Prevention & Control Annually Mandatory
Moving & Handling (People & Objects) Every 2 years Mandatory

Safeguarding Adults (Level 2 & 3) Annually Mandatory
Safeguarding Children (Level 2 & 3) Annually Mandatory
Food Hygiene & Nutrition Every 3 years Mandatory
Lone Working Awareness Every 3 years Mandatory
Conflict Resolution Every 3 years Mandatory
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Every 3 years Mandatory
Information Governance & Data Protection Annually Mandatory
Mental Capacity Act (MCA) & Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) Every 3 years Mandatory
Handling of Violence & Aggression (Breakaway Techniques) Every 3 years Mandatory
Additional role-specific training may be required depending on the client’s healthcare setting.
5. Training Delivery Methods
Carextra Staffing ensures that all statutory and mandatory training is delivered through:

E-Learning Platforms – Online training modules that meet NHS & CQC standards.

Face-to-Face Training – Classroom-based or practical skills assessments.
-
Blended Learning – A mix of e-learning and practical assessments for key competencies.

On-the-Job Training – Where applicable, healthcare providers may conduct site-specific training.
6. Compliance & Monitoring

All staff must complete required training before placement in any healthcare setting.

Training records will be maintained in a central database and audited regularly.

Staff are responsible for renewing expiring training before the due date.

Non-compliance may result in suspension from work assignments until training is completed.
7. Responsibilities
7.1 Carextra Staffing Responsibilities:

Provide access to statutory and mandatory training.
-
Ensure training meets regulatory and industry standards.
-
Maintain accurate records of training compliance.
-
Notify staff of upcoming renewal dates.
7.2 Healthcare Worker Responsibilities:

Complete all required training before starting work.
-
Keep personal training certifications up to date.
-
Submit training records to Carextra Staffing.
-
Comply with employer and healthcare provider training policies.
7.3 Client Responsibilities (Healthcare Providers):

Ensure agency staff comply with local training requirements.
-
Provide site-specific training where necessary.
8. Failure to Comply with Training Requirements
Failure to complete or renew mandatory training may result in:

Temporary suspension from work assignments.
-
Disciplinary action in cases of repeated non-compliance.
-
Contract termination if training remains incomplete beyond a reasonable timeframe.
9. Review & Updates
This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to regulatory changes. Updates will be communicated to all staff.
