1. Introduction
Carextra Staffing is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable adults and children in its care. This Safeguarding Policy sets out our procedures to prevent and respond to
safeguarding concerns in compliance with UK law.
2. Purpose & Scope
This policy applies to all Carextra Staffing personnel, volunteers, contractors, and partners. It aims to:

3. Legal Framework

4. Responsibilities of Staff & Management
All staff members are responsible for safeguarding and must:

Remain vigilant for signs of abuse or neglect.

Report concerns immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Follow safeguarding procedures outlined in this policy.
Management Responsibilities:
Provide regular safeguarding training.

Ensure safeguarding policies are followed.

Support staff in handling safeguarding concerns appropriately.
5. Recognizing Signs of Abuse & Neglect
Types of Abuse:

Physical Abuse: Unexplained bruises, burns, and fractures.

Emotional Abuse: Withdrawal, low self-esteem, extreme behaviour changes.

Sexual Abuse: Inappropriate sexual knowledge or behaviour.

Financial Abuse: Unexplained financial transactions, missing money.

Neglect: Poor hygiene, malnutrition, untreated medical conditions.
All staff must be trained to recognise these signs and take immediate action when concerns arise.
6. Reporting & Responding to Concerns
Concerns must be reported to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) within 24 hours.
A safeguarding report must be completed and submitted confidentially.
If a child or vulnerable adult is in immediate danger, emergency services must be contacted
(999).
Concerns will be referred to the appropriate local authority safeguarding board or police when necessary.
Anonymity and confidentiality must be maintained throughout the reporting process.
7. Safer Recruitment Practices
All new staff must complete an Enhanced DBS Check before starting work.
Two professional references must be obtained for every hire.
Staff must undergo safeguarding interviews to assess their suitability.
A probationary period applies, during which safeguarding conduct is monitored.
8. Staff Training & Development
All employees must complete annual safeguarding training.
Specialised training is provided for staff working with high-risk individuals.
Ongoing professional development ensures staff remain updated on safeguarding best practices.
9. Confidentiality & Information Sharing
All safeguarding concerns must be kept confidential.
Information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis.
UK GDPR regulations must be followed when handling personal data.
In cases of serious risk, information may be shared with authorities without consent to protect individuals from harm.
10. Policy Review & Compliance
This policy will be reviewed annually or in response to significant safeguarding incidents.
All staff must confirm understanding and compliance with this policy upon employment.
Failure to adhere to safeguarding procedures may result in disciplinary action or dismissal.
